OUR HISTORY
1981
Mr. Mohanrajah was introducted to the air conditioning industry in the 1970s by Mr. Sam Keil. In 1981, Mr. Mohanrajah founded ATCO Refrigeration in partnership with Mr. Mervin Janz, a veteran in the refrigeration and air conditioning servicing industry in Sri Lanka. The company was formed under the name 'ATCO Ref Centre'.
1986
ATCO initially provided only refrigerator repairing services, and in 1986 we started importing spare parts for refrigerators. Two years later, we ventured into the automobile air conditioning services industry by providing automobile air conditioning services and repairs and importing of auto air conditioning spare parts.
1992
In 1992, we expanded the business by importing refrigeration spare parts for retail and wholesale distribution.
2003
ATCO ventured into the domestic and light industrial air conditioner business in 2003, by partnering with the Chinese household air conditioner brand ‘GALANZ’.
2016
ATCO Air Conditioning (Pvt) Ltd. was established. Building on the successful product 'GALANZ', the company re-branded and re-introduced the air conditioner as 'GALAXY' to the Sri Lankan market.
Staying true to our company mission, we continue to offer our full range of services and products to customers, with over 30 years of industry experience in Sri Lanka.

Co-founder and Chairman of the company, Mr. Mohanrajah is a high-profile industrialist in the air conditioning industry in Sri Lanka. His strategic vision and strong leadership qualities have led ATCO to three decades of sustainable growth. He is the backbone behind the company's success and recognition.
Mr. Dharmesh Unnithan
Director Sales & Marketing
Mr. Dharmesh has been working for ATCO since 2000 and has a wide and diversified managerial experience. As the future successor to his father, Mr. Mohanrajah, he plans to continue the legacy of ATCO by staying true to the foundations of the business while adapting to today’s technologically robust environment.
Mr. Romesh Unnithan
Director Operations
Joining the family business in 2005, Mr. Romesh has an overall understanding of the operational aspect of the company. He is strongly determined to provide the necessary operational support to direct ATCO into the future.
